WAKING NIGHT SUPPORT WORKER
Location: Ashford, Kent Hours: 31.5 hours per week (Rota in place)
Pay: £12.60 per hour (£20,638.80 per annum pro rata) Over time available (£14.00 per hour)
The Role We are seeking a Waking Night Support Worker to provide safe, responsive, and person-centred support throughout the night. You will ensure the people we support feel secure and comfortable, promoting independence while meeting individual needs.
Responsibilities include providing overnight support, responding appropriately to any needs or incidents, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and completing routine safety and utility checks.
o Essential Requirements Previous experience supporting individuals with autism in a social care or support setting
o Understanding that autism can be complex and that each individual has unique needs
o Ability to work independently and remain alert during waking night shifts
o Compassionate, patient, and reliable approach to care

RESPONSIBILITIES OF A WAKING NIGHT SUPPORT WORKER (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO)
o Carry out routine safety and welfare checks on individuals and their environment throughout the night
o Ensure the service, building, and grounds remain safe and secure at all times
o Complete household management tasks, including cleaning, light cooking, and general upkeep
o Administer medication in line with individual care plans, organisational policies, and medication procedures
o Support individuals with personal care and hygiene needs while maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect
o Accurately complete and maintain written records, reports, and night handover documentation
o Work independently during lone-working shifts, following agreed lone-working procedures and risk assessments
o Support individuals who may experience distress or display behaviours of concern, using positive behaviour strategies and person-centred approaches
o Provide care and support to individuals with additional or complex needs, including learning disabilities, epilepsy, pica, and other health or support needs
o Demonstrate a clear understanding of each individuals abilities, preferences, and support requirements
o Promote independence, choice, and empowerment in line with person-centred care principles
o Actively promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of support
o Uphold the privacy, confidentiality, and dignity of all individuals at all times
o Build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and professionals across services
o Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development, training, and reflective practice
