Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse to join Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust’sAcute Deterioration Improvement Team (ADIT).

As Lead Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in delivering trust-wide improvements to the recognition, escalation, and management of clinically deteriorating patients. This post offers the chance to work within a high-performing, evidence-driven team, contributing to nationally recognised quality improvement work across adult inpatient, emergency, and cross-specialty pathways.

The role demands clinical credibility, a sound grasp of quality improvement methodologies, and the ability to translate data into action at the front line. You will work closely with multi-professional teams to design, deliver, and evaluate safety-critical interventions in areas such as sepsis care, early warning scores (NEWS2/PEWS/MEOWS), handover safety, fluid management, and failure to rescue.

This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious professional to develop system-wide leadership skills, shape clinical standards, and directly impact patient outcomes across NUH’s three hospital sites. The successful candidate will be supported by the ADIT Matron and the wider Recognise & Rescue Steering Group and will contribute to strategic programmes aligned to NUH’s Quality Strategy and Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP).
