Ready to impact a better future?

As an Airfield Support Team Technician in our Airfield Support Team at RAF Brize Norton, you’ll help ensure the effective control, management, and safeguarding of essential radio and aviation‑related equipment that keeps operations running safely.
Your work will help deliver reliable communication and safety systems that support the Royal Air Force’s mission. It’s a role with real purpose, where your contribution helps create a positive impact on the people and communities connected to the UK’s largest military airbase.
What you’ll do as an Airfield Support Team Technician

You’ll be entrusted to:
- Maintain the control and management of Managed Radio Equipment (MRE).
- Support frequency management, including allocation updates and liaison with the Radio Delivery Team.
- Assist with Air Traffic Management (ATM) equipment technical safeguarding, including siting boards, RADHAZ, and electromagnetic checks.
- Maintain Air Traffic Management network faults, including crash phone lines and G‑6 radios.
- Support building custody for Ground Radio Installation buildings, including key control and site access arrangements.

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
· Been SC cleared or have no problems obtaining one.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics, and a science subject.
- Experience working in an airfield or aviation environment — desirable but not essential.
- An interest in Air Traffic Control communication systems or aircraft mechanical or avionics equipment.
- The ability to complete a mandatory three‑week Airfield Support Team training course at RAF Cosford.

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, you will need to obtain formal Security Clearance (SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
