An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic team within the Neonatal Unit.
The successful applicant will need to have experience dealing with the general public; they will have good IT skills and remain calm under pressure in this challenging role. A good telephone manner, confidence and a positive helpful manner is essential. Duties will include answering the telephone, filing, booking appointments and help with signposting parents and visitors.
Full training will be provided for the successful candidate.

The postholder will be expected to provide clerical, administrative and information technology support to medical, nursing and other staff in relation to the patients being cared for within the Unit.
• Receive/welcome new patients onto the ward, checking particulars on their records and ensuring notesare inorder.Ensureidentitybracelets availablefornursingstaff.Compilesetsofrequiredblank documentation for emergency patients.
• Receive/welcomevisitorsontotheWardandinformSister/ChargeNurseordeputyofanyquerythey may have.Answerthetelephone,respondingtoquestionsorrequestsasappropriate. Requesttheservicesofalliedhealthcareprofessionalsasrequestedbynursingstaff(eg Phlebotomist/ECGTechnician/Radiographers/Porters).
• Makeoutpatientreferralsasrequestedbynursingstaff.
• NotifyPathologyofurgentbloodspecimenswhenrequestedbynursingstaff.
• Requestandcollect(ordeliverwhenrequested)notesandx-raysfromvariousdepartments.
You will be part of a group of employees which comprises of doctors, nursing staff, support staff and clerical/administrative staff who provide a high standard of service to neonates and their families.

Hospital Transformation Programme (HTP)
As part of our long-term vision to improve patient care and service delivery, our Service will relocate to The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in 2028. This move will unite specialist services in a purpose-built, modern environment, enhancing care and team experience.
We are actively recruiting and want applicants to be aware that successful candidates will be expected to move with the Service in early 2028. The relocation will follow a formal management of change process, with full consultation and support for colleagues.
