Summary
We’re excited to offer this opportunity within our Admin & Clerical workforce.
This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic qualified librarian to join our team helping NHS staff and students across Dorset to access and use evidence and knowledge to underpin patient care, education, lifelong learning, research and innovation.
You will use your professional expertise to promote UHD Knowledge and Library Service, and have confidence to deliver services to staff in their place of work. You will conduct complex literature searches, produce current awareness bulletins and deliver information skills training to a wide variety of teams and students on placement.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a proactive approach to customer service and have excellent IT skills.
UHD Knowledge and Library Services is a supportive and impactful team providing services across Dorset to two NHS Trusts.
As part of the wider Education and Training Team and have close working relationships across the UHD and Dorset Healthcare Trusts. There are two physical library spaces across UHD:
· Poole Hospital
· Royal Bournemouth Hospital

To deliver proactive library and knowledge services promoting resources and services to a wide range of NHS staff; conducting complex literature searches, synthesising and summarising results; providing end-user training to use resources effectively, facilitating the exchange and sharing of knowledge by NHS teams across Dorset.
UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.

This role assists the Knowledge and Library Services Manager by enabling excellent healthcare and health improvement through the provision of a professional library and knowledge service for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust and to their staff and healthcare students which aligns to organisational priorities and the national NHS England Knowledge for Healthcare Strategy.
The post holder will proactively promote and deliver knowledge and library services to a range of staff in their workplace settings. This may involve attending education days, multi-disciplinary team meetings and quality improvement groups to provide evidence from research and examples of good practice to inform the work of clinical and non-clinical staff.
Developing services to implement the Knowledge for Healthcare development framework, local strategy and meet national accreditation standards.
