Summary

About Ark Worldwide Ltd
Ark Worldwide Ltd is an innovative startup pioneering sustainable shrimp aquaculture through advanced Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) technology. Based in London, we are building the future of sustainable seafood production by combining cutting-edge biological science with environmentally conscious farming practices.

As a startup, we offer a dynamic, hands-on environment where your contributions directly impact our mission to revolutionize urban aquaculture. Our state-of-the-art facility in London houses our RAS-based shrimp cultivation operation, where we are developing best practices for intensive, sustainable shrimp farming in controlled environments.

Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Biological Scientist to join our growing team and play a crucial role in the development and optimization of our shrimp aquaculture operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of marine biology, aquaculture technology, and sustainable food production.
As a Biological Scientist at Ark Worldwide, you will be responsible for the biological aspects of shrimp cultivation, system design, and operational management. This is a versatile role that encompasses research, hands-on technical work, and facility management—ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment where adaptability and initiative are valued.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, construct, and optimize recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) for intensive shrimp cultivation
• Monitor and maintain optimal water quality parameters including temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels
• Conduct research and testing on shrimp cultivation techniques, growth optimization, and health management in RAS environments
• Manage shrimp health, development, and behavior through all life stages from post-larvae to harvest
• Source and procure aquaculture system components, equipment, and biological supplies
• Establish and maintain reliable supply chains for aquaculture feed, seed stock (post-larvae), and essential materials
• Coordinate orders and deliveries across technical and biological suppliers
• Perform daily facility management including system monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Manage biofilter operation and biological filtration processes for ammonia and nitrite conversion
• Implement and maintain biosecurity protocols to prevent disease outbreaks and ensure animal welfare
• Ensure regulatory compliance for aquaculture operations including environmental, health, and safety standards
• Document experimental protocols, maintain detailed records, and analyze data to optimize production efficiency
Essential Qualifications
• Higher Degree (Master or PhD) in Marine Biology, Aquaculture, Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, or related field
• Strong understanding of aquatic biology, water chemistry, and aquaculture principles
• Knowledge of recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) technology and biological filtration processes
• Practical experience with water quality testing and analysis
• Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced startup environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records
• Physical ability to perform hands-on work including lifting equipment and standing for extended periods
