The Insurance & Risk Officer supports the delivery of a professional risk and insurance service within the council. The role involves handling insurance and compensation claims, giving advice on insurance matters, and helping services manage risk and reduce losses.
Key duties include investigating claims, gathering evidence, preparing reports, liaising with insurers and legal teams, and responding to customer enquiries. The postholder will also analyse data, monitor trends, support risk improvement projects, and help ensure services follow policies, legal requirements, and best practice.
Requirements & Skills:
Experience working in insurance, risk management, or claims handling
Knowledge of compensation claims and civil justice procedures
Strong communication and customer service skills
Good IT skills, including databases and spreadsheets
Ability to investigate cases, analyse information, and write clear reports
Insurance or risk qualification (or relevant work experience)
