Wexham Park Hospital is a large and growing acute general hospital in Berkshire and part of a high-performing Foundation Trust with Investors in People accreditation. As the first Trust in the country to achieve NHSLA Level 3, patient safety remains our priority, and we are proud of the high standards of care delivered across our services.

The Pharmacy Department is a forward-thinking and progressive team that continues to expand as we develop and enhance the services provided to the Trust. We are now seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy Stores and Distribution section as a Pharmacy Assistant.

If you are motivated, with good communication skills, have a methodical approach to work, an ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team – you could be the person we are looking for.
• Assist in the receipt, checking, storage and distribution of pharmaceutical stock to wards, departments and clinical areas across all Trust sites, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery in line with Trust procedures.
• Support the topping up of ward stock, maintaining agreed stock levels and rotating stock appropriately to minimise waste and ensure medicines are in date.
• Accurately pick, assemble and prepare ward and departmental orders using pharmacy systems, ensuring all items are correct and safely packaged for transport.
• Assist the Pharmacy Storekeeper with ordering pharmaceuticals from approved suppliers, unpacking deliveries, checking against invoices and reporting discrepancies.
• Support stock control processes, including monitoring stock levels, date checking, reporting low stock, and participating in stock takes.
• Assist with invoicing procedures and maintain accurate records in accordance with departmental and financial governance requirements.
• Provide support to the dispensary service as required, including transporting medicines, assembling prescriptions, and maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Follow all relevant policies including medicines management, health and safety, infection control, and data protection, ensuring safe handling and storage of medicines at all times.
