Job Introduction

We are seeking a dedicated Catering Supervisor to join our team at Manchester Foundation Trust. This is a back of house management role, primarily responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, supervising catering staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and maintaining high quality food service in a clinical environment. This role focuses on managing the catering process behind the scenes to support patient care.

What you’ll do:

  • Supervise catering staff working in the kitchen and food preparation areas, ensuring smooth operational workflows.
  • Allocate duties and responsibilities to the catering team, providing guidance and support.
  • Monitor compliance with HACCP regulations, temperature controls, and record keeping to ensure food safety standards are met.
  • Conduct regular checks on kitchen equipment and facilities, reporting maintenance issues promptly.
  • Ensure all kitchen and catering areas are kept clean, hygienic, and well maintained.
  • Manage stock levels and assist with inventory control in the back of house areas.
  • Support staff training, including health and safety, manual handling, and infection control procedures.
  • Maintain effective communication with ward staff and other departments to coordinate food service needs.

What you bring:

  • Experience working in a catering or kitchen environment (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of health and safety, manual handling, and food hygiene regulations.
  • Excellent communication and team management skills.
  • Ability to respond professionally to operational challenges and unpredictable situations.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.
