About The Role
As a Lead Engineer – Gas, you’ll play a key role in making sure our customers’ homes are safe, warm and well maintained. You’ll provide day‑to‑day technical leadership for a team of Engineers, ensuring repairs, maintenance, installations and empty homes works are completed right first time, safely and to a high standard across our geography, which includes, Taunton, Frome, Bristol, Bath and Weston-Super-Mare.
Working closely with your line manager and colleagues across the business, you’ll help things run smoothly, support great customer service, and ensure safe, high‑quality work across your area.
Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical advice, guidance and assurance to a team of Engineers, supporting them to deliver high‑quality gas repairs, maintenance, installations and empty homes work.

- Support the Supervisors with health and safety, helping ensure Engineers understand and follow policies and procedures, and that risks are identified, monitored and managed.

- Carry out pre‑, during‑ and post‑work inspections and audits of Engineers’ work and vehicles to ensure quality, safety and compliance standards are met.

- Act as a key point of contact for the teams in the Supervisors absence, helping to resolve technical queries, escalations and customer complaints.

- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, colleagues, contractors and suppliers, providing clear and timely updates on work progress.

- Support effective use of tools, equipment and van stock, and keep accurate electronic and manual records in line with company and statutory requirements.

This is a full time permanent role working 40 hours per week.
This is a mobile role based in the field in the Taunton, Bristol, Bath, Frome and Weston‑super‑Mare area – you should be based within a 30‑minute commute of this area.

About The Candidate
About the candidate
To be successful in your application for the role of Lead Engineer – Gas, you will have the essential skills and experience for a Level 1 role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role‑specific skills and experience:
Essential skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications
You will have:

- Experience providing technical advice and support to a mobile team of Engineers across a geographical area.

- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive, effective working relationships with customers, colleagues and contractors.

- Knowledge of housing/construction maintenance, repairs and refurbishment, including relevant health and safety requirements.

- Confidence using mobile technology and systems to manage work and keep accurate records.

- The ability to adapt your approach for different customers and remain calm, professional and customer‑focused.

- You will also hold the following essential gas qualifications:

CCN1 (Domestic Core Element)
CENWAT1 (Domestic Gas Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters)
CKR1 (Cookers)
HTR1 (Heaters)
Desirable skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications
Experience working in the construction or maintenance sector.
Full UK driving licence.
WRAS Water Regulations (or willingness to complete after probation).
CMDDA1 (Carbon Monoxide/Dioxide Atmosphere and Appliance Testing).
A good level of literacy and numeracy.
