Overview
We are supporting a well‑established organisation in recruiting a Senior Employee Relations Specialist. This role sits within a central HR/People function and is ideal for someone with strong experience handling complex casework and advising managers at all levels.
The successful candidate will contribute to a positive, fair and consistent approach to people management, supporting proactive employee relations activity, early conflict resolution and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality advice and guidance on complex employee relations matters, ensuring fair, transparent and compliant outcomes.
- Support managers with a range of cases including disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence.
- Coach and challenge stakeholders to promote early resolution and constructive working relationships.
- Maintain and improve systems for tracking ER activity, identifying patterns and informing improvement work.
- Support the development and review of people policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of training and awareness sessions on people management, respectful behaviour and inclusive working practices.
- Work collaboratively with trade unions and internal stakeholders as part of ER case handling and consultation.
- Assist with preparation for legal processes where required.
- Support project work related to wellbeing, policy, employee experience or people services.
- Promote a culture that reflects organisational values and encourages constructive, professional working relationships.
Person Specification
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience in a senior HR/ER role.
- Significant experience advising on complex and sensitive employee relations matters.
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and case law.
- Experience supporting managers through change processes.
- Experience working with trade unions or other representative bodies.
- Ability to coach, influence and build effective relationships.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to assess risk.
