Sand Blasting Operative

  • Position Type: Temp to Perm
  • £13.00 per hour
  • 40 hours, Monday to Friday
  • Location: Bishop's Stortford, on-site car parking

Overview

Working within the Production Department, this position is responsible for the media blasting, preparation, and bonding of transducers to tanks used across all capital equipment. The role involves operating grit blasting equipment, preparing surfaces, performing adhesive bonding processes, and ensuring all components meet the required quality standards before passing them to the assembly line.

Key Responsibilities

Media Blasting and Surface Preparation

  • Perform grit blasting on a variety of tanks and accessory products under controlled, repeatable conditions.
  • Clean and prepare tanks and components to the required specification prior to bonding.
  • Apply adhesive materials accurately and consistently to ensure successful transducer bonding.

Assembly & Bonding Activities

  • Assemble fixtures, jigs, and tooling as required to support the bonding process.
  • Carry out bonding operations following strict work instructions and process controls.

Quality Inspection & Documentation

  • Inspect finished goods to verify surface finish, bond integrity, and conformity before issuing to the assembly line.
  • Maintain accurate production records, traceability logs, and process documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring good housekeeping standards in all blasting and bonding areas.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Read engineering drawings and follow detailed work instructions.
  • Previous experience in grit blasting, powder coating, or similar finishing/preparation roles.
  • Ability to work safely with machinery, adhesives, and surface‑preparation equipment.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or engineering production environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate production and quality records.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with adhesive‑bonding processes - Desirable
