The Role:
We are looking for a proactive and reliable Facilities Assistant to join our friendly team at New City College’s Ardleigh Green Campus. You will play a key part in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our students, staff and visitors. This varied role involves supporting day-to-day facilities operations, carrying out basic repairs, assisting with site maintenance, helping with room setups, and ensuring the campus remains fully operational.
Ardleigh Green Campus is one of New City College’s vibrant sixth-form locations, offering a modern and well-equipped learning environment complemented by spacious grounds and specialist facilities. Known for its strong academic reputation and supportive community feel, the campus provides a blend of traditional classroom spaces, practical workshops, study areas and social zones. As part of the Facilities team, you will help maintain these high-quality spaces so our students can learn, thrive and feel proud of their surroundings.
Please note: A 0.5 FTE Facilities Assistant position is also available at our Epping Campus. If you wish to be considered for a combined role across both campuses, please clearly state this in your personal statement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out minor repairs, basic maintenance and decoration tasks.
• Support mail handling, goods deliveries and general duties.
• Assist with furniture moves, room setups and safe equipment storage
• Maintain internal and external areas, reporting defects promptly
• Support cleaning, grounds maintenance and safe removal of hazardous materials when required
• Travel to other campuses as needed and participate in enrolment, exam invigilation and open events
Who You Are:
• Experience in facilities, maintenance, or a similar support role
• Basic DIY and repair abilities
• Safe manual handling awareness
• Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills
• Reliability, attention to detail and a positive, proactive attitude
Qualifications:
• GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
• Basic IT, literacy and numeracy skill
