Do you have a passion for the Motor Vehicle industry and a talent for bringing out the best in others?
Want to help shape the next generation of automotive professionals in a modern, well-equipped college environment?
We’re looking for a motivated and hands-on Technician Trainer to join our Engineering & Motor Vehicle team at Peterborough College, part of Inspire Education Group. This is an exciting role where no two days look the same — supporting learners, maintaining specialist workshops, and helping deliver high-quality practical training.
What You’ll Be Doing
Providing training, coaching and practical support to learners across Motor Vehicle programmes.
Assessing students’ skills and progress against set criteria.
Supporting teaching staff with engaging practical and vocational activities.
Delivering underpinning knowledge sessions through tutorials, workshops and observations.
Maintaining, repairing and organising tools, equipment, materials and workshop spaces.
Supervising learners during practical tasks, assessments, examinations and off-site visits.
Ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety standards (including COSHH).
Assisting with stock control, inventories and administrative tasks.
Carrying out minor maintenance and first-aid duties when required.
Contributing to curriculum planning, team meetings and College-wide events such as open evenings.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Level 2 qualification in a relevant Motor Vehicle subject.
GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Strong knowledge of Motor Vehicle products, equipment and materials.
Up-to-date understanding of Health & Safety in a workshop environment.
Excellent communication, organisation and IT skills.
Confidence working with young people of mixed abilities.
Ability to maintain a clean, safe and professional workshop environment.
A proactive team player with a “can-do” approach.
Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and high-quality student experience.
Desirable (or willingness to work towards):
Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle or related discipline.
Level 3 Award in Education & Training (AET/PTLLS).
Emergency First Aid at Work.
Experience in teaching, demonstrating or coaching.
Experience in minor maintenance tasks or supervision of students.
Why Join Us?
A supportive, forward-thinking curriculum team with a positive “can-do” culture.
Access to excellent CPD, training and development opportunities.
Secure LGPS pension scheme.
Opportunities to contribute to exciting developments in Engineering and Motor Vehicle education.
A varied role where you genuinely make a difference to learners’ futures.
Ready to make a positive impact on our campus community? Apply today!
