An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate pharmacy technician to manage the provision of education, training and development of our pharmacy support worker and pharmacy technician workforce at Royal Free London (RFL) NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be the educational programme director (EPD) and be responsible for the management and delivery of the Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeship (and/or non-apprenticeship) training programmes and support the development of our qualified pharmacy technicians and support workers leading to the formation of high calibre and confident staff enhanced to sustain the stability of our workforce.

You will be a highly competent pharmacy technician with considerable experience within a hospital setting and have proven experience in recruitment, appraisals, rota planning, strategy and leading meetings, to name a few.

You will be expected to work in an accurate, effective and efficient manner to support the provision of high quality education to our technical workforce. Being confident, friendly, optimistic and resilient are key qualities for the post holder, ensuring we collaborate with key stakeholders to develop a workforce that is equipped with the right knowledge, skills and behaviours to deliver a service now, whilst developing talent for the future.

Given the expanded structure of the team and nature of our trust, there will be a need to visit each of the RFL sites on a regular basis.

The post holder will operationally manage the provision of education, training and development of all technical and support staff within the department and to set up and monitor a training infrastructure cross site.

They will be the educational programme director (EPD) and be responsible for the management and delivery of the Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeship (and/or non-apprenticeship) training programmes. They will act as an educational supervisor (ES) where appropriate.

The post holder will promote and develop the culture of continuous learning & development within the pharmacy team and ensure the quality of training is maintained and monitored with the use of regular reviews and feedback. They will maintain and develop links with educational providers.

They will be responsible for the recruitment and selection of pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians (PTPTs) and support the hiring of pharmacy support worker apprentices together with the service leads as appropriate.

The post holder will work closely with the trust’s apprenticeship lead to manage and support apprenticeships in pharmacy within Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and represent pharmacy at internal & external educational governance and developmental meetings to ensure pharmacy is meeting regional and national standards in education.
