An opportunity has arisen to work as a Public Rights of Way assistant for the Sustainable Travel Team in the Environment and Transport Department. We are looking for someone to support the team with managing and maintaining the nearly 2000 miles of footpaths, bridleways, and byways within the County.

About the Role

Working flexibly as part of the team to provide efficient and effective administration support including responding to customer enquiries and reports, assisting with the ordering and monitoring of maintenance works, assisting with the recording and maintenance of Public Rights of Way records and assisting with site inspections on the Rights of Way network throughout the county.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Have an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) or English and Maths GCSE at Grade A-C or equivalent. Alternatively demonstratable work experience in a public focused environment.
  • Hold a valid Driving Licence.
  • Have knowledge of the County of Leicestershire and a willingness to travel around the county and undertake site inspections on the Public Rights of Way network with an awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Have an interest in walking, cycling and or horse riding.
  • Have experience of using Microsoft Office including Word and Excel or equivalent packages. Knowledge of GIS systems would be desirable although training will be given.
  • Be able to plan and prioritise own workload. Be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision or as part of a team and a demonstratable ability to use own initiative.
  • Good interpersonal skills including calm liaison with the public and the ability to converse at ease with customers.
