A Vacancy at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

A Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker in the newly built Emergency Department plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, timely, and compassionate care to patients experiencing urgent or life-threatening conditions. Working under the supervision of registered nurses and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team, the post-holder supports clinical staff in managing a fast-paced, unpredictable environment where priorities can rapidly change.

As part of a modern, purpose-designed ED, the role offers the opportunity to work with improved facilities, updated clinical spaces, and enhanced patient flow pathways. The new build environment supports efficient working practices, better privacy and dignity for patients, and the integration of new equipment and digital systems.

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a newly built, modern Emergency Department, providing high-quality, patient-centred care. The post-holder will support registered nurses and clinicians in delivering safe, timely, and effective treatment to patients attending with a wide range of urgent and emergency conditions. This includes undertaking enhanced clinical responsibilities appropriate to Band 3, contributing to patient flow, and maintaining the smooth running of the department.

The HCSW will contribute to embedding new ways of working and ensuring the department functions smoothly from day one.

The role involves providing direct patient care, performing enhanced clinical duties aligned with Band 3 responsibilities, and contributing to the smooth flow of patients through the department. Working in a new, modern ED offers the chance to develop advanced clinical skills, support innovative service delivery, and make a meaningful impact on patient care at critical moments.
