Specialty Doctor Adult Psychiatry in Bow and Poplar Neighbourhood Mental Health Team and Tower Hamlets Centre for Mental Health
This is a 10PAs position however applicants wishing to work less than full time are welcome (minimum 8PAs).
This post has become available as the previous doctor has progressed to another post abroad.
The post is within well-developed multidisciplinary teams working in the vibrant borough of Tower Hamlets. There are opportunities to work flexibly and good support from collegiate SAS doctors and the consultant body within the Directorate.
The Specialty Doctor will share the medical input for the team with 2 consultants, 2 SpRs 1 GP trainee, and 1 Core Psychiatric Traineeworking under clinical supervision. There will be a need to screen referrals, contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, correspond with referrers, colleagues and other involved professionals and conduct psychiatric reviews and chair CPAs of community patients. There will be a need to review ward patients, write tribunal reports, and attend tribunals as required. Specific administrative support is provided for preparation of GP correspondence, tribunal reports, and other documentation.
On average 8.0 Programmed Activities per week will be devoted to Direct Clinical Care – with Out-patient clinics and occasional home visits.
SASG doctors may occasionally support ward round duties to cover leave of senior colleagues.

Bow and Poplar Neighbourhood Mental Health Service (NMHT) is an integrated multidisciplinary service. The service is based around Primary Care Networks and the post-holder will join the current substantive consultants Dr Luke Mearns, Dr Andrew Biggs and Rikke Albert (Senior Consultant Nurse) to provide clinical leadership to the team. The team is based at a community clinic which also houses the Bethnal Green NMHT, the Tower Hamlets Early Intervention Service, Early Detection Service and a Specialist Autism Assessment. The inpatient facilities are based at the Tower Hamlets Centre for Mental Health at Mile End Hospital. The service base is very central to the borough with good bus and Tube connections
