SEN Classroom Support Assistant
Hours: 29.25 hours per week | Term Time Only
Location: Plymouth
Setting: Specialist SEN School
Make a difference where it really matters
As an SEN Classroom Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping children and young people feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. This is a hands-on, rewarding position for someone who wants to build experience in SEN education while making a genuine impact every single day.
Thrive Recruitment Group is recruiting on behalf of a specialist school in Plymouth, supporting learners aged 4-19 with severe and complex learning difficulties. Due to growing pupil numbers and increased classroom support needs, the school is expanding its support team.
What your day will look like
Working closely with teaching staff and therapists, you'll support pupils by:
- Providing in-class and 1:1 support tailored to individual needs
- Helping deliver personalised learning plans (IEPs)
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Assisting with personal care and daily routines where required
- Creating a calm, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
You'll be there for the small moments that make a big difference - from building confidence to celebrating progress.
A role designed to help you grow
This school is committed to supporting the development of its staff.
You'll benefit from:
- A thorough induction and ongoing mentoring
- Access to SEN-specific training and CPD
- Support to achieve a Level 2 qualification (if not already held)
- Clear pathways into senior classroom support, specialist SEN roles, or further education training
Whether you're new to SEN or looking to deepen your experience, you'll be supported every step of the way.
Who we're looking for
- Patient, calm, and compassionate individuals
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- A genuine interest in supporting children with SEN
- Experience in education, care, or support is helpful but not essential
A Level 2 qualification is desirable, but not essential - full training is available.
Safeguarding
Thrive Recruitment Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
