What skills and experience we're looking for

• Been educated to degree level;
• Qualified Teacher Status;
• Strong understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and a trauma-informed approach.
• Strong understanding of working with children with special education needs specifically those undergoing assessments for EHCP.
• Strong understanding of children with speech, language and communication difficulties and those with diagnosis of neurodiversity.
• Proven record of classroom management;
• Experience of working with primary aged children with emotional and behavioural needs;
• A passion for teaching and making links with other areas of the curriculum.
• Positivity, patience, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for all learners.

Experience of working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including pastoral and therapeutic staff

We are a unique Pupil Referral Unit with ‘Good’ status, committed to providing high-quality education and support for pupils who may have experienced challenges in mainstream settings. We aim to make a difference to the education and life chances of vulnerable young people in the London Borough of Sutton.

We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational teacher to deliver outstanding lessons to our Key Stage 1 and 2 students. Strong literacy is required. You will promote high standards of students’ attendance and behaviour and have the ability to engage with their Social and Emotional needs to overcome their barriers to learning.
