Ysgol Mynydd Bychan is a welcoming Welsh-medium primary school in Cardiff, proud of its strong sense of community and commitment to providing a safe and inspiring environment for our pupils. We have recently moved to a new site that is undergoing redevelopment, and we are looking for an Estates Manager to help us make the most of this exciting opportunity.
This role is central to ensuring the smooth and safe day-to-day running of our school buildings and grounds. You will take responsibility for maintaining and improving our facilities, managing repairs and maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements. Working closely with staff, contractors, and the wider school community, you will play a key part in creating spaces that support learning and wellbeing.
We are looking for someone practical, organised, and able to work effectively with others. Experience in estates or facilities management is important, but equally valuable is a hands-on approach and strong problem-solving skills. Carpentry or general maintenance experience would be an advantage, as would the ability to find creative solutions when challenges arise. Good communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships are essential.
In return, we offer a friendly and supportive working environment, opportunities for professional development, and a role where you can make a meaningful contribution to our school community.
If you would like to help shape the future of Ysgol Mynydd Bychan and contribute to a safe and welcoming environment for our pupils, we would love to hear from you.

Safeguarding and Child Protection are key priorities for the Council. We aim to support children and vulnerable adults to ensure they are as safe as they can possibly be. Our services and schools are committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable adults, and will take action to safeguard their well-being, and acknowledge that children and vulnerable adults have a right to protection. This is supported in the general ethos of the Council and all schools.
As an equal opportunities employer, we value diversity. Therefore, although not a requirement for application, we welcome and encourage applications from underrepresented individuals including those:
• aged under 25;
• not in employment, education or training;
• from our local communities including in particular disabled individuals, carers and those from the Cardiff BAME and LGBT+ communities;
• ability to communicate fluently in Welsh.
