Summary

About ReflecTeen
ReflecTeen works with young people, parents, and families to build confidence, resilience and wellbeing through culturally informed early intervention, mentoring, sporting activities, parental support, and community engagement. We provide Positive Parenting Stay and Play sessions, wellbeing walks, buggy walks, and interactive family support groups designed to strengthen family relationships and community connections.

Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, culturally aware parenting support for families participating in ReflecTeen’s programmes. You will facilitate engaging stay and play sessions, support community walking groups (e.g., buggy walks and wellbeing walks), and deliver tailored support that respects and reflects the cultural identities and experiences of the families we serve.

Key Responsibilities
Parenting Support & Group Facilitation
- Plan, prepare and deliver welcoming and interactive stay and play sessions for parents and children that promote learning, bonding, wellbeing, and cultural inclusion.
- Lead and support buggy walks / wellbeing walking groups that promote physical activity, connection, and mental wellbeing for parents and children.
- Facilitate group discussions on parenting topics, including strategies for enhancing parent-child interaction, coping with challenges, and building confidence.

Cultural Experience & Inclusivity
- Bring cultural competence to all interactions, recognising and valuing the diverse cultural backgrounds and lived experiences of families.
- Ensure activities are accessible and relevant to families from a range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

One-to-One Support
- Provide empathetic, strengths-based support to parents in individual or small group settings.
- Work alongside families to identify needs, set goals, and signpost to additional services or community resources.

Community Engagement
- Build positive relationships with families, children and other community partners to support programme participation and engagement.
- Support outreach and registration for stay and play sessions, walks, and other parenting support events.

Monitoring & Reporting
- Keep accurate records of session attendance, participant feedback, and outcomes.
- Report any safeguarding concerns promptly in line with organisational policies.
Health & Safety
- Ensure all activities are delivered safely and in line with relevant guidelines and risk assessments.

Person Specification/ Essential Experience
- Experience working with children, parents, or families in community, education or support services.
- Demonstrable cultural awareness and ability to support diverse communities — especially in empowering parents from different cultural backgrounds.
- Experience facilitating group activities or support groups.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage confidently with both adults and children.
- Ability to lead activities (creative, physical, discussion-based) that promote learning and family bonding.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental approach to family support.
Good organisational skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable
Formal qualification in childcare, community work, family support, early years, social care or related field. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and confidence in identifying and responding to concerns.
