Job Purpose:
The Loading Shovel Driver plays a key role in the safe and efficient operation of Mid Hants Fawley Quarry. This position is responsible for operating loading shovels to move, load and manage aggregates and other materials across the site, supporting production targets and maintaining smooth workflow. The role ensures that all loading activities are carried out safely, accurately and in line with site procedures, environmental standards and company expectations. The driver contributes directly to maintaining high operational standards, minimising downtime and supporting the overall performance of the quarry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate loading shovels to move, load and manage aggregates and other materials
• Feed crushing and screening plant as required
• Load customer and internal vehicles safely and accurately
• Maintain stockpiles and ensure materials are stored correctly
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
• Follow all site safety procedures, traffic management rules and environmental guidelines
• Assist with general site duties, including housekeeping and basic maintenance
• Work collaboratively with the site team to meet production targets and deadlines
Skills & Experience:
• Previous experience operating a loading shovel in a quarry, construction or similar environment
• Valid loading shovel licence or equivalent certification – Preferred
• Strong awareness of health & safety and safe working practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
• Flexibility to support other site tasks when required
