Search are supporting the recruitment of an Assistant Accountant in Edinburgh with flexible working options. Within the role, you'll support the Finance & Administration Manager across a broad range of accounting activities, from daily transactional work, process improvements to month end processes. If you're an experienced Bookkeeper or Assistant Accountant looking to be part of a friendly team in a role that provides variety and ownership, you'd be encouraged to apply.
This is a site-based role that offers flexibility to tailor your hours. Whether you prefer full time or part time, you'll play a key part in keeping a multi site business running smoothly.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting preparation of monthly management accounts
* Preparing journals including accruals and prepayments
* Liaising with auditors at year end
* Processing sales invoices, purchase invoices and expenses
* Posting daily receipts and payments
* Completing bank and other reconciliations
* Processing month end payments and ad hoc payment runs
* Reporting on debtors and creditors
* Preparing and filing VAT and other statutory returns
* Assisting with budgets and forecasts
* Recommending improvements across systems and processes
* Supporting senior management with finance tasks and ad hoc reporting
Skills and experience that will benefit your application:
* Hands‑on experience across core finance tasks including reconciliations, journals, VAT returns and month‑end support
* Experience assisting with budgeting and forecasting
* Proficiency with Accounting software and Excel
* Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
* Interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels
* Open to Part Qualified (PQ), Qualified by Experience (QBE) or Qualified applicants
