Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School - Newham
Full Time | Term Time Only | Immediate Start
Up to £125 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
We are recruiting an experienced and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a secondary school in Newham, supporting students with a range of behavioural and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a long-term, temp-to-perm opportunity for someone confident supporting young people both in and out of the classroom, using de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour approaches to help students re-engage with learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour and SEMH support across KS3 and KS4
- Support students in lessons, intervention spaces and during unstructured times
- Use de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviour safely and effectively
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students
- Work closely with pastoral teams, SEN staff and teaching staff
- Support implementation of behaviour and support plans
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting students with behaviour and SEMH needs
- Understanding and practical experience of de-escalation techniques
- Confidence working in a secondary school setting
- A calm, consistent and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Background in SEN, youth work, mentoring or pastoral roles (desirable)
