Summary
Job Description – Key Responsibilities
Model high-quality social work practice to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in need, including those in complex, high-risk situations, ensuring their health, development, safety and long-term stability.
Lead effective assessment, planning, review and decision-making to secure timely permanence for children who cannot live at home, including looked-after children and care leavers.
Ensure children’s voices are central to practice, actively seeking and using their views (appropriate to age and understanding) to shape interventions and outcomes.
Provide professional leadership within the team, including resolving professional disagreements, supporting less-experienced social workers, promoting high standards of practice, and driving service improvement.
Manage complex and high-risk casework, making sound, evidence-based professional judgements on risk, safeguarding, and appropriate levels of intervention in line with legislation and statutory guidance.
Prepare and present high-quality reports and evidence for panels and courts to secure safe and secure outcomes for children.
Work collaboratively with families, carers, partner agencies and professionals, promoting equality, diversity, anti-discriminatory practice, effective information sharing and positive outcomes for children and young people.
