What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an individual who:
• has initiative, is practical, positive, warm, and compassionate and is able to support children academically, socially and emotionally.
• has experience of working with children of all ages
• has experience of working with a range of special educational needs including ADHD, ASD, PDA, SLCN and children who are pre-verbal
• has experience of carrying out targeted interventions, working from EHCPs and with external professionals
• has a positive attitude and who is flexible and able to adapt to different situations
• is hard working, energetic, enthusiastic and who will support our values and Christian ethos
• has the ability to support children’s academic, social and emotional development in all Key Stages (EYFS to Year 6)
• is able to develop positive relationships with pupils, having an understanding of the their social and emotional needs
• is able to remain calm when met with a variety of challenges

Further details about the role
This position will initially involve working 1:1 with individual children, with high need and potentially working within our own resource provision for part of the day. There will also be times during the day, when the successful candidate may be working with other children supporting small group work or carrying out interventions. The duties may change at a later date, dependent on intake and pupil need.
Commitment to safeguarding
St Gabriel's is committed to the safeguarding of children and the promotion of their welfare and expect all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be expected to provide 2 satisfactory references (including one from their current employer), undertake an enhanced disclosure via the DBS and will be required to have an overseas police check in place if they have spent an extended time abroad, prior to appointment. All other safeguarding searches (including online) as stipulated in KCSiE will be undertaken prior to appointment.
