About the Role

We’re looking for a talented and curious Analyst to join the Insights and Intelligence Service at Trafford Council. Our team plays a vital role in shaping better outcomes for residents by turning data into meaningful insights that improve services across the borough.


In this role, you will provide analytical support to Children’s Services, with a particular focus on Education, SEND, and CCIS data. Your work will directly contribute to improving the lives and experiences of children, young people, and families in Trafford.


Trafford is on an exciting journey to transform how we use data. We are modernising our reporting through Power BI and developing a forwardthinking data warehouse to strengthen intelligence across the organisation. We’re looking for individuals who are eager to grow their skills, innovate, and make a tangible difference for our communities.


About You


You will bring an analytical mindset, a passion for highquality data, and the ability to communicate insights in a clear and compelling way. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively with stakeholders and be motivated by using evidence to drive better decisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse complex datasets and translate findings into clear, evidencebased insights and data stories that inform decisionmaking across the Council.
  • Support reporting for services across the Council, with a particular emphasis on Children’s Services, including Education, SEND and CCIS.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the development, design, maintenance, and quality of the Council’s data assets.
  • Develop and maintain business intelligence solutions, including interactive Power BI dashboards and strategic management reports.



You will have:

  • Experience of analysing and interpreting large, complex data sets
  • Experience of pulling together data sources from a variety of different systems and engaging with a variety of stakeholders to gain domain understanding
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present analysis clearly, through visualisations, written reports, or oral presentations
  • Experience of data manipulation using a variety of software tools such as Power BI and some basic experience with SQL.
  • Experience of working as part of a team and liaising with internal departments and external bodies.
  • A passion for data and aptitude in supporting processes to improve data quality.
  • Ability to quickly analyse problems and find appropriate and timely solutions.
  • Ability to work as a team and on own initiative, determine priorities and meet important deadlines over the short, medium and long term
