Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist SEN school in Horsham. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people with special educational needs.
As a Learning Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, communication difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment that enables every pupil to thrive.
Key responsibilities include:
* Working as directed by the Classroom Teachers and Senior Leadership Team.
* Understand how a pupil's learning is affected by their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development and understand the stages of child development.
* Make effective and efficient use of ICT for classroom and management support.
* Provide support and encouragement to children and young people.
* Challenge and motivate pupils, promote and reinforce self-esteem.
* Participate in the marking of pupils' work and accurately record achievement/progress.
* Encourage children to value their experiences and knowledge.
* Be familiar and keep up to date with the school's systems and structures as outlined in policy documents including Health and Safety and Child Protection policies.
* Be familiar and up to date with SEN Code of Practice.
