Part-Time Year 1 Teacher (3 Days per Week)
Location: Hounslow, London
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
An education recruitment agency is currently working in partnership with an outstanding two-form entry primary school in the London Borough of Hounslow to appoint a part-time Year 1 Teacher. This is a three-day-per-week position, with working days to be agreed, and offers an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing and supportive school on a flexible basis.
The school is a well-established and popular primary setting with an outstanding Ofsted judgement. It is known for its strong leadership, calm and purposeful learning environment and consistently high standards of teaching and learning. Pupils are well behaved, motivated and enthusiastic about their education, and staff work collaboratively within a positive and inclusive culture. The school places a strong emphasis on early reading, phonics and the development of key skills in Key Stage 1, ensuring children are well prepared for the next stage of their learning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a Year 1 class for three days per week and will work closely with the parallel class teacher to ensure continuity and consistency of learning. Responsibilities will include planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum, assessing pupil progress and adapting teaching to meet the needs of all learners. The role also involves creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment, maintaining high expectations for behaviour and achievement, and contributing to the wider life of the school in line with the part-time nature of the post.
The school is seeking a qualified teacher who holds Qualified Teacher Status and has experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally within Year 1. Applicants should have a secure understanding of the Year 1 curriculum, including phonics and early reading, and be able to demonstrate effective classroom practice and strong behaviour management. The successful candidate will be organised, reflective, and able to work collaboratively as part of a team. Early Career Teachers with strong Key Stage 1 experience are welcome to apply.
In return, the school offers a welcoming and supportive staff team, excellent leadership, well-behaved pupils and a positive working environment. Staff benefit from clear systems, high-quality resources and a strong focus on professional development and wellbeing.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and provide satisfactory references.
