As part of our two-year training programme, you’ll receive hands-on experience, developing essential skills in a fast-paced, rewarding environment. You’ll also work towards earning the Certificate of Higher Education in Pharmacy Technician Practice Apprenticeship with the prestigious University of East Anglia. At the end of your training, you’ll be equipped with the expertise and qualifications to register with the GPhC and start your exciting career in pharmacy.

A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade A* - C (new grades 9 - 4) or equivalent including:
• GCSE English at Grade C/Level 4 or above, Scottish National 5 or above, or equivalent English language evidence which can include Functional Skills Level 2*
• GCSE Maths at Grade C/Level 4, Scottish National 5 or above, or equivalent evidence of numeracy which can include Functional Skills Level 2
• GCSE Science x 1 at Grade C/Level 4 or above, or Scottish National 5 or equivalent
*PLEASE NOTE that English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is not an equivalent to GCSE English Grade C/Level 4 or above and does not meet the entry requirements.
You will also need to be patient focused, have good interpersonal and communication skills, be a quick learner and be committed to the 2 year training programme. The ability to cope with the discipline of studying whilst working is essential.

Join our comprehensive, level 4 training programme designed to equip you with all the skills and knowledge you need to become a fully qualified Pharmacy Technician!
Throughout your journey, you’ll attend a recognised college or pharmacy training organisation to cover the knowledge components of the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians. This will be complemented by hands-on, skill-based training across various rotational areas, ensuring you receive well-rounded, practical experience.
Your role as a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician will involve undertaking the tasks and responsibilities defined by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) to achieve registration as a Pharmacy Technician. This qualification is a combination of both study and demonstrating your competence within the workplace.
To succeed in this role, you must be able to balance studying while working effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. A professional approach and commitment to your training are key as you move through each structured rotation and complete the necessary competencies.
You will have the support of a dedicated Educational Supervisor, and your training will follow a structured package across a variety of rotations, including:
• Inpatient dispensary
• Clozapine co-ordination
• Medicines management
• Procurement and distribution
• Specialist clinical experience
• Community Mental Health Team visits
