We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Gardener, on a 7-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £13.26 - £17.10 per hour
Summary:
The Gardener role supports the Environment & Leisure service, delivering high-quality grounds maintenance in line with specifications and client requirements across the city.
Responsibilities:
Grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, and clearance of leaves and litter
Planting of bedding plants, trees, and shrubs
Shrub bed planting and maintenance, including pruning and division
Application of chemicals in line with regulations
Maintenance, setting out, and marking of sports facilities
Undertake general soft landscaping works such as top-soiling, cultivation, seeding, and shrub-bed renewal
Qualification:
NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent) or a minimum of two years proven practical experience in grounds maintenance
Essentials:
Full UK driving licence
Proven experience in practical horticulture and grounds maintenance
Experience using mowing equipment and small plant (e.g. pedestrian mowers, strimmers)
Knowledge of mechanical plant/equipment and basic maintenance
Please note:
You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
You should have right to work in U.K
