Decisions made Make daily clinical judgements and decisions relating to patient assessment, investigations, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, prognosis, counselling, admission, mode of delivery, discharge, and the need for referral off island. Provide expert advice on disease prevention, early detection, and evidence-based management of obstetric and gynaecological conditions. Recommend staffing requirements, clinical services, and medical equipment necessary for safe and effective service delivery. Supervision received Report directly to the Chief Medical Officer in accordance with established governance structures. Discharge professional duties autonomously within the scope of specialist practice and national policies. Provide timely written and verbal reports as required for clinical, administrative, and governance purposes. Consult and collaborate with the Surgeon Specialist, District Medical Officers, Psychiatrist, and other specialists as clinically indicated. Work complexity Develop, review, and update protocols and procedures for the effective delivery of obstetric and gynaecological services and management of related conditions. Supervise inpatient obstetric and gynaecological care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, determination of mode of delivery, ongoing management, and discharge planning. Prepare clear, accurate, and timely medical reports in accordance with clinical and legal standards. Contribute to the planning, execution, analysis, and interpretation of clinical audits to support quality improvement. Exercise prescribing authority for specialised medications in accordance with national regulations and hospital policy.
