Summary

SEMH Support Role – Secondary Setting (Ages 11–16)

Okehampton | £90–£100 per day

We are working with a specialist educational setting in Okehampton dedicated to supporting children and young people whose primary needs relate to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and associated additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Conditions, ADHD and communication difficulties. Classes are small and personalised, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed support, relationship-building and helping learners re-engage with education in a nurturing environment.

The role:
  • Supporting secondary-aged students (11–16) both in class and across the school day

  • Helping to manage and de-escalate behaviour using trauma-informed approaches

  • Assisting students to engage with tailored learning and personal development programmes

  • Collaborating with teaching and pastoral teams, families and external professionals to support each young person’s individual needs

You’ll be a great fit if you:
    • Have strong experience working with SEMH, trauma, challenging behaviour, or additional needs

    • Can remain calm, consistent and compassionate in highly emotional or unpredictable situations

    • Understand the importance of structure, clear expectations and positive relationships

    • Have worked in alternative provision, SEMH settings, specialist schools or similar contexts (desirable)

This is a high-impact, rewarding opportunity for someone motivated to make a meaningful difference to young people who have found mainstream education challenging. The team values a trauma-informed attitude, strong teamwork and a flexible, reflective approach.

      Pay: £90–£100 per day
