A bit about us:

Silverwood School is an inspirational and forward-thinking special school based in the heart of Wiltshire. We support pupils aged 4–19 with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

At Silverwood, our EYFS team is at the start of something extraordinary. From the first day of school our dedicated staff guide our SEND pupils through life’s earliest and most important discoveries—with care, creativity and boundless empathy.

We are seeking a committed and creative EYFS Teacher to join our Early Years team, starting 2nd June 2026. Whether you’re an experienced teacher looking for your next challenge or an ECT ready to begin a career in SEN, this is a role where you’ll shape lives—and grow your own career in a supportive, purpose-driven team. This permanent role will be based at our Rowde campus, offering a safe, inspiring environment tailored to the needs of our youngest learners.

Working here isn’t always easy—but it is deeply rewarding.

“Silverwood has a real sense of community and we are forever evolving and changing as a school. It’s a really exciting and inspirational place to work with fantastic people in every department and level in the school.”

All about the role:

What we offer:

A purpose-built EYFS setting designed to inspire and support our youngest learners
A collaborative team of 7 EYFS teachers who thrive on teamwork and shared success
Opportunities for accelerated progression into middle leadership
A structured pathway for Early Career Teachers to develop a fulfilling career in SEND
A comprehensive and well-supported induction programme
Freedom to design learning tailored to individual pupil need, without the limits of mainstream expectations
Ongoing CPD and access to external specialist support
A positive, respectful culture that values wellbeing and work/life balance
“There is a genuine ‘human’ feel to the school. Colleagues are respectful of everyone’s situations and there is a real focus on providing a work/life balance.”

Key Responsibilities:

This role is based at our Rowde campus.

Deliver high-quality early years teaching within a specialist SEND setting
Conduct home visits in Term 1 to establish strong relationships with pupils and families
Support children attending water confidence sessions in the onsite hydrotherapy pool
Utilise our extensive outdoor areas and work with school animals to enhance learning and engagement
Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a shared team ethos
Foster an environment rich in sensory experiences and structured exploration
We are looking for someone who:

Brings a strong understanding of SEND and the unique challenges you might face in the role
Is passionate about Early Childhood Education and nurturing young learners
Brings strong communication and observation skills
Has a creative and imaginative approach to curriculum delivery
Can foster a stimulating, safe and motivating learning environment
Works effectively as part of a collaborative team
Has patience, empathy and compassion, understanding that every day is full of new experiences for these pupils
Can adapt teaching to meet a range of SEND needs
Values sensory play, outdoor learning and real-world exploration
