Crynodeb
Madras College Community Use works in partnership with schools, local clubs, community groups and organisations to make high quality facilities available for learning, leisure, sport and culture outside the school day. The programme is wide ranging and includes physical activity and sport, dance and performing arts, arts and crafts, cookery, modern languages, music and DJ courses, vocational learning, meetings, celebrations and largescale community events.
As a Receptionist, you will play a vital frontline role in ensuring customers, service users and partners feel welcomed, supported and confident using the facilities. You will often be the first point of contact and a visible representative of Fife Council and Community Use.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
Provide a professional, friendly and efficient reception service during Community Use opening hours.
Respond to enquiries from the public by telephone, email and face-to-face, offering clear information and advice.
Support bookings, registers, waiting lists and attendance records using Council systems, including the Leisure Information Management System.
Handle payments, cashing up and reconciliation in line with agreed procedures.
Work closely with instructors, coaches, keyholders and duty staff to ensure activities run smoothly and safely.
Follow health and safety procedures, standard operating procedures and relevant risk assessments, escalating issues when required.
Deal appropriately with customer comments, complaints and compliments, resolving issues where possible and referring matters on when needed.
Work independently during quieter periods, including lone working, while also contributing as part of a wider Community Use team.
This role requires flexibility and reliability, as shifts are offered to support service delivery, cover absences and respond to programme demand. Consistency, clear communication and professionalism are essential.
The Person
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering a high-quality customer experience. To be shortlisted, you must be able to demonstrate:
Experience of working in a customer facing role, providing frontline support to members of the public.
The ability to communicate clearly and calmly, including listening, advising and explaining information to a wide range of customers.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, using initiative to solve day-to-day problems.
A flexible approach to work, including evening and weekend availability.
Basic IT skills and confidence using digital systems to record information accurately.
Education to SCQF Level 4 or equivalent experience.
You must be able to travel to Madras College and work on site during Community Use hours.
