Immediate Start | Full-Time

Are you a recent graduate with a strong background in Mathematics and a passion for education? Do you want to gain real classroom experience as an Unqualified Maths Teacher before starting teacher training?

A highly regarded and inclusive secondary school in Accrington & Burnley is looking to appoint an Unqualified Maths Teacher from September 2025. This full-time, paid role is ideal for aspiring maths teachers.

Unqualified Maths Teacher – The Role

As an Unqualified Maths Teacher, you'll support maths teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping students develop their mathematical skills and confidence.

You'll begin by assisting in maths lessons, leading small groups, and supporting individual students. Over time, with guidance from experienced maths teachers, you'll gradually take on more responsibility—planning and leading lessons, managing classroom behaviour, and tracking student progress.

Unqualified Maths Teacher – Key Responsibilities

• Support maths lesson delivery across KS3 and KS4.
• Lead 1:1 and small group interventions to raise mathematical achievement.
• Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and classroom organisation.
• Provide tailored support for students with SEND, EAL, or other needs.
• Contribute to behaviour management and student engagement.
• Take part in extracurricular activities, clubs, and school events.
• Build confidence as you work toward potential teacher training pathways.

Unqualified Maths Teacher – Candidate Profile

The ideal Unqualified Maths Teacher will have:

• A 2:1 or above in Mathematics or a related subject (e.g. Physics, Engineering, Statistics).
• Strong A-Level and GCSE Maths results.
• A passion for education and the ambition to become a qualified maths teacher.
• Confidence, clear communication skills, and a proactive approach.
• A punctual, professional, and committed attitude.
• Experience working with young people (tutoring, mentoring, youth work) is desirable but not essential.

Why Become an Unqualified Maths Teacher at This Accrington & Burnley School?

• Gain classroom leadership experience before applying for PGCE, SCITT, or School Direct.
• Receive expert mentoring and professional development from experienced maths teachers.
• Work in a forward-thinking school with excellent transport links across Accrington and Burnley.
