Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a lively, supportive, innovative department, with excellent training and opportunities to explore your interests? UCLH is looking to recruit a Clinical Fellow in TYA Haematology/Oncology (registrar/ST4+ equivalent) to commence in March 2026 for 12 months. You will be expected to contribute to the out of hours rota covering general paediatrics, including emergency department.

You must be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise.

Full GMC Registration is required. NB: Non-UK trained doctors must be on the GMC register by
the date of interview.

This post will be comprised of 80% clinical activity and 20% for special interest activities, including disease focused research, service development projects, leadership and management skills training, diagnostics lab attachments.

As part of the job, you will have a chance to develop expertise in a variety of subspecialities:
- Acute and chronic leukaemia
- Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas
- Non-malignant haematology
- Neuro-oncology
- Sarcomas
- Rare tumours
- Bone Marrow Transplant (autologous and allogeneic)
- CAR T cells therapy
- Proton Beam Therapy
- Lab diagnostics

The post is based in the teenage and young adult cancer service and the post holder will work at registrar /ST4+ level. The clinical component of the post encompasses PED, inpatient wards and outpatient clinics. Baseline working is 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday and the on call out of hours commitment is a contribution to a middle grade rota made up of late shifts, long days and nights.

When covering the ED, as well as treating patients, you will provide on-site leadership and supervision of SHOs in paediatrics and emergency medicine for patients presenting with medical illness.

Under the supervision of the attending consultant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of patients on the in-patient paediatric and young people’s units during your oncall commitment. This includes regular ward rounds and decision making, communication with nursing staff and other health professionals.


The registrars are expected to teach the medical students both informally at the bedside and in groups. They may also be asked to teach nursing staff. There are also leadership and management opportunities within the scope of the role, including:
● Opportunity to lead on a divisional priority based on their personal interest
● Mentoring from a senior leader (Clinical)
● Coaching opportunity
● Attendance at strategic meetings such as CYP Leadership meeting, CYP Steering Board, Senior Directors meeting
