12-hour shifts, average 42 hours Week 1: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun – 6am–6pm Week 2: Wed & Thu – 6am–6pm
We’re looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a solid electrical bias to join a busy food manufacturing operation. This is a permanent days-only position within a fast-paced poultry processing facility, ideal for someone confident working with high-volume production machinery and site services.
Role Overview
You’ll play a key role in keeping production running smoothly by carrying out a mix of electrical and mechanical maintenance across a range of factory equipment. The role combines reactive work, planned maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Attending breakdowns quickly and carrying out effective electrical & mechanical fault-finding
• Maintaining and repairing production machinery such as conveyors, packing equipment, chillers, motors and processing plant
• Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and supporting ongoing improvements
• Fault-finding on PLC-controlled systems, inverters, drives, sensors and control panels (no programming needed)
• Mechanical work including gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics and basic fabrication
• Ensuring all maintenance is carried out safely and in line with food safety and hygiene standards
• Recording all work accurately using the site CMMS Assisting with installs, shutdowns and broader engineering projects
• Working closely with production and hygiene teams to keep downtime to a minimum
What You’ll Need
• Multi-skilled engineer with a strong electrical maintenance background
• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• Solid mechanical fault-finding skills Food, FMCG, poultry or chilled manufacturing experience is essential
• Experience with PLC fault-finding, motors, sensors and control systems
• Confident working with hydraulics, pneumatics and safe isolation/LOTO
• Able to work effectively in a high-speed, production-led environment
