A supportive and ambitious secondary school in Barnet is seeking a Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor to join their team. This role is ideal for graduates considering teacher training who want to make a meaningful impact on student progress and attainment.

The Role

As a Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor, you will work closely with the Humanities department to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop confidence, subject knowledge, and strong study skills.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering 1:1 and small-group academic mentoring in Humanities subjects.
• Supporting students during lessons to improve engagement and understanding.
• Leading targeted interventions to raise attainment and close learning gaps.
• Assisting teachers with lesson resources, preparation, and assessments.
• Encouraging critical thinking, independent learning, and academic resilience.
• Acting as a positive role model within the school community.

This role provides excellent preparation for PGCE, Schools Direct, or other teacher training routes.

Person Specification

The school is keen to hear from candidates who have:

• A degree in a Humanities subject (History, Geography, RE, Politics, Sociology or related).
• A strong academic background and enthusiasm for Humanities education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
