Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for empowering children with complex communication needs?

Do you thrive in SEND environments and have a proven track record supporting autistic and neurodivergent pupils?

About the Role

A Leeds-based educational setting is seeking a skilled and confident Speech and Language Therapist to support pupils aged 4–16 with diverse communication, social, emotional, and developmental needs.

This is a hands-on role requiring independence, initiative, and the ability to deliver high-quality therapy from day one. You'll be working in a dedicated SEND environment where your expertise will directly shape outcomes for young people.

Start date: ASAP
Duration: Until at least February half-term, with potential to extend based on permanent recruitment

What You'll Be Doing

• Conduct comprehensive SaLT assessments and develop tailored intervention plans
• Deliver impactful therapy through 1:1 sessions, small groups, and class-based support
• Produce detailed, high-quality reports to inform EHCPs, annual reviews, and school records
• Support children with autism, neurodiversity, developmental language delays, and wider SEND profiles
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapy colleagues, and pastoral teams to embed communication strategies
• Provide training, modelling, and guidance to staff to build whole-school communication capacity

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with current HCPC registration
• Enhanced DBS check (child workforce)
• Demonstrable experience supporting children and young people aged 4–16
• Strong background in SEND settings, particularly with autistic and neurodivergent learners
• Confident in assessment, intervention planning, and report writing
• Able to work independently and manage a varied caseload from day one
(This role is not suitable for NQTs or newly qualified therapists)

Desirable:

• Proactive, self-motivated, and solution-focused
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based SaLT interventions and approaches
• A genuine commitment to improving communication outcomes and inclusion for young people
