Our client is a well-established and respected main contractor operating across the commercial, retail, and industrial sectors. They specialise in delivering fit-out and refurbishment projects with values ranging from £100k to £10m. Known for their collaborative culture and high standards of delivery, they are now looking to strengthen their pre-construction and estimating team.
Role Overview
They are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing and supportive pre-construction team based in Stockport. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive tenders, working closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the tender process.
This role offers flexible working hours and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities
• Review tender documentation to fully understand project scope and requirements
• Break down projects into work packages and issue enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers
• Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings to assess site conditions and gather relevant information
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for fit-out and refurbishment projects
• Produce take-offs and bills of quantities from drawings and specifications
• Compile, price, and submit tender returns to clients within agreed deadlines
• Liaise with clients to clarify scope, specifications, and expectations
• Work collaboratively with the pre-construction team to analyse project risks and opportunities
• Source and engage suitable subcontractors and suppliers through market research
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, costs, and industry pricing
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of estimating processes and systems
Candidate Requirements
• Proven experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry
• Experience in fit-out and refurbishment projects is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of estimating software and digital take-off tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering, or a related discipline (preferred)
