Health & Wellbeing Advisor
Permanent, Part Time – 15.3 hours per week
Location: Cambridge, St Edmund’s College
Salary: £16,000 per annum pro rata (£38,000 per annum FTE)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Health & Wellbeing Advisor to join our College community. This role is central to supporting student wellbeing through proactive engagement, tailored guidance, and collaborative working across departments.
This is a meaningful role where your work will directly contribute to the health, resilience, and overall experience of our student community. You will have the opportunity to shape wellbeing initiatives, strengthen partnerships, and make a lasting impact.
Job Responsibilities
The Health & Wellbeing Advisor provides one‑to‑one support and signposting for students, ensuring they can access appropriate health services and resources in a timely and effective way. Working closely with colleagues across the College, the postholder will help improve health service accessibility for vulnerable groups and contribute to an inclusive, supportive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing culturally sensitive health education materials
- Delivering workshops and campaigns on topics such as physical and mental health, nutrition, sexual health, and disease prevention
- Leading community engagement initiatives by identifying health needs and vulnerability factors
- Building strong partnerships with local health services, charities, and NHS providers
- Designing and implementing health promotion programmes aligned with the College wellbeing strategy and academic calendar (Michaelmas, Lent, and Easter Terms)
- Addressing key student stress points, including transitions, examinations, and holiday periods
- Collecting and analysing health trend data to inform policy and enhance wellbeing provision
The Ideal Candidate
You will bring a strong foundation in health education and a genuine commitment to supporting student wellbeing. You’ll be confident engaging with a diverse student community, navigating UK health systems, and using data to inform and evaluate wellbeing initiatives.
Experience & Skills
Essential
- Experience in health education or public health initiatives
- Strong communication skills and cultural competence
- Knowledge of UK health systems and local health resources
- Ability to analyse data and evaluate programmes
Desirable
- Experience in higher education or youth‑focused settings
- Familiarity with mental health frameworks
- Training and facilitation skills
Qualifications
- Degree in Public Health, Community Health, Nursing, or a related field
