Are you an experienced Nursery Deputy Manager or Assistant Nursery Manager with strong SENCo knowledge?
Action Staffing is proud to be recruiting for Harvey House Nursery, a well-established, 57-place setting located in Leytonstone, East London (E11). Part of a successful group of three nurseries, Harvey House is well-known in the local community for its high standards and dedicated team of over 20 staff.
We are looking for a hands-on, problem-solving Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day running of the nursery. You must be comfortable managing staff, handling rotas, and leading on Special Educational Needs (SEN) within the setting.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management: Manage staff rotas, ratios, and daily logistics for a busy 57-place nursery.
SENCo Leadership: Act as the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, supporting children with additional needs and guiding staff on best practices.
Staff Management: Mentor and lead a team of 20+ staff, including bank staff and kitchen teams, ensuring high performance.
Safeguarding: Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring all child protection policies are rigorously followed.
Room Strategy: Utilise your experience across all age groups (Baby, Toddler, Pre-school) to maintain quality across every room.
Problem Solving: Handle day-to-day challenges swiftly and professionally.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a Deputy Manager or Assistant Manager.
Setting Size: Previous experience in a setting larger than 30 places is essential (you must understand the demands of a medium-to-large nursery).
SEN Experience: Proven experience as a SENCo or strong knowledge of SEN processes is highly preferred.
Qualification: Level 3 NVQ/CACHE Diploma in Early Years (or higher).
Certifications: Must hold valid Paediatric First Aid (PFA) and Safeguarding certificates.
Flexibility: Happy to work either room-based or supernumerary as the business requires.
Benefits
Highly competitive salary (£34,910 - £38,750) with room for negotiation for exceptional candidates.
The security of working for a well-established group of nurseries.
Opportunity to lead a large, established team.
