Summary
Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) has an exciting job opportunity in the Children's Wellbeing Practitioner Service for a qualified Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) or Education Mental Health Practitioner. We are looking for a qualified, highly motivated, innovative individual to work in a growing diverse team. You will support with triage, complete assessments and deliver 1-1 and group interventions and workshops.
To be considered for this job you need to have completed the postgraduate level Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) or Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) training programme.
You will be based in Ware and you will be expected to cover the East of Hertfordshire including Ware, Hertford, Broxbourne, Bishops Stortford and surrounding areas. Therefore a full valid driving license and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010). You will need business insurance.
The Children's Wellbeing Practitioner Team comprises of qualified Children's Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs), qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners, trainee CWPs, a CWP Supervisor and the Service Lead.
The individual recruited to this position will be expected to support with triage, complete assessments, deliver 1-1 and group interventions and workshops. You will be expected to complete appointments via video call, telephone and face to face dependent on the needs of the child/ young person and family. You will represent the service by presenting at meetings and community engagement events as necessary. Some evening work will be required for the facilitation of workshops and group work. When delivering evening work you will accumulate time off in lieu (TOIL) or you can work flexibly on that day. You will also be expected to support with service development tasks as and when appropriate.

You will use your previous training as a CWP or EMHP to deliver low level mental health interventions to adolescents and the parents of children presenting with mild-moderate anxiety, low mood and behaviours that challenge. As part of this role you will be expected to triage incoming referrals, complete initial assessments, complete risk assessments, deliver 1-1 and group interventions, and facilitate workshops.
You will also be expected to represent the service and present at internal and external meetings and events as required. You will support with relevant service improvement and development tasks and support trainee practitioners and new staff induction as appropriate which may include them shadowing your work.
There will be occasions where you may be asked to work flexibly e.g. running workshops and groups after 5pm and working across more than one area when needed. Therefore, please note it is essential you have a full driving license, have access to a car and that you are confident and comfortable driving.
You will be expected to work towards set targets and use your initiative to meet the needs of the service and children and young people we serve. This role would suit applicants keen to progress their career as a CWP, working therapeutically with children and families.
