About the role

Location: Netherton Hub, Longside, Aberdeenshire

We’re looking for a proactive and community‑focused Community Liaison Officer (CLO) to act as the key link between the project team and the local community. In this predominantly site‑based role, you’ll support clear, timely communication, help coordinate engagement activity, respond to community concerns, and build strong relationships with residents, groups, and stakeholders. You will play an essential part in ensuring communities feel informed, supported, and respected throughout the project.

What you'll be doing

Communication & Engagement
  • Lead local communications and notifications.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for community enquiries.
  • Carry out door knocks, engagement visits, and support consultation events.
  • Keep communities updated on works, timelines, and potential impacts.
  • Draft written communications, manage mail drops, and support local signage.
  • Attend evening or weekend meetings when needed and provide occasional out‑of‑hours support.
Relationship Building & Collaboration
  • Build positive relationships with local people, groups, and stakeholders.
  • Attend Community Liaison Groups and provide knowledgeable representation.
  • Work closely with project teams to stay informed about site activities.
  • Prepare short‑term engagement plans, lookaheads, and community updates.
  • Support planning consultations and maintain shared records of interactions.
  • Promote respectful behaviour among contractors and help minimise community disruption.
Impact Mitigation & Reputation
  • Identify concerns early and help develop practical mitigation measures.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to queries and complaints.
  • Support wider social impact initiatives such as volunteering, education, or community projects.
  • Act as an advocate for both the project and the community.
Reporting
  • Produce regular written reports on engagement activity, feedback, and upcoming works.
  • Maintain accurate records of all community interactions.
  • Share positive stories, project updates, and external communications.
  • Attend regular project and customer meetings to provide updates.

Who we're looking for

We’re seeking someone who communicates naturally, builds rapport easily, and enjoys working closely with communities.

You will bring:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including confidence speaking publicly.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or project communications (ideally in construction, civils, or energy).
  • The ability to work independently in a busy, site‑based environment.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach to handling issues.
  • An understanding of local authority processes and planning consultations.
