Band 5 £31,049 - £37,796 per annum, pro rata if part-time
Hours: Variable , fixed term and permanent roles available, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

This is an exciting time to join our Children’s Services team as we continue to grow and develop, including plans for a brand new Children’s Hospital
This expansion brings a wealth of opportunities for learning, development and career progression across a variety of paediatric specialties
You will be supported to work confidently both independently and as part of a strong, inclusive multi disciplinary team
Across the Paediatric Unit, nurses work collaboratively with medical staff, allied health professionals, play therapists and support staff to provide holistic, evidence based care, ensuring children feel safe, listened to and valued throughout their journey
You will play a vital role in delivering high quality, family centred care to children, young people and babies within a dynamic acute setting

• High Dependency Care Course
• Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS) / European Paediatric Life Support (EPLS)
• Assessor & Supervisor Training
• Specialist modules in caring for children with diabetes or cancer
• Clinical skills development such as venepuncture, cannulation, NGT management, central line care and tracheostomy care
To work in conjunction with other staff as a member of a team of nurses, ensuring the highest standard of service for patients and families and accept responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

Clinical
• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of patients within their sphere of responsibility.
• To provide the highest standard of evidenced based nursing care for both the children and their families in line with local and nationally agreed standards and guidelines.
Professional
• To demonstrate a professional approach to work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.
• To ensure documentation is complete, legible and up to date in line with the NMC Record Keeping Guidelines and the local Trust guidelines.
Management
• To promote effective communication, between all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• To ensure planned care and treatments are carried out effectively by the team members delegated these tasks.
Education
• To take personal responsibility for continuing professional development and statutory and mandatory training relevant to the role.
• To attend training in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and have regular updates in line with Trust Policy.
