We are working with a highly regarded primary school in Newport, Gwent, who is seeking dedicated and experienced Primary SEN Teaching Assistants. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with special educational needs, as you will be responsible for providing compassionate and tailored support to help them reach their full potential.

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teachers to implement individualised learning programmes and strategies that cater to the unique needs of each student in your care. Your role will involve assisting with a range of activities, from one-on-one tutoring and small group work to developing and delivering engaging lessons that stimulate and challenge the children.

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing personalised support to students with special educational needs, such as those with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, or behavioural and emotional challenges
- Collaborating with the SENCO and class teachers to develop and implement tailored learning plans that address each student's unique needs and goals
- Delivering one-on-one and small group instruction to reinforce learning, build confidence, and foster academic progress
- Assisting with the preparation and adaptation of teaching resources to ensure they are accessible and engaging for students with special educational needs
- Monitoring and documenting the progress of students, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and class teachers
- Promoting the inclusion and integration of students with special educational needs within the wider school community
- Offering emotional support and guidance to students, helping them to develop coping strategies and build resilience
- Maintaining a safe and stimulating learning environment that enables students to thrive
- Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Significant experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, in an educational or care setting
- A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with special educational needs and the strategies and interventions that can effectively support their learning and development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs
- Proficiency in using assistive technologies and adaptive learning resources to support students with special educational needs
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt your approach to meet the changing needs of your students
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and grow in your role
