The Cleanliness Audit Officer monitors the performance of cleanliness standards in all areas of the hospital; this is based on National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025 (NSHC 2025) and under the direction of the Audit and Compliance Manager. Working with and reporting to the Cleanliness Audit & Contract Liaison Manager, they’ll support the department with quality assurance, improvement processes, and strengthen stakeholder relationships.
In line with the NSHC 2025, the monitoring of cleaning standards will include cleaning responsibilities within the Cleaning Services, Nursing Teams and Estates Teams.
The role may also include the monitoring of catering food hygiene standards and retail catering cleaning responsibilities.
The role requires excellent communication skills, basic computer literacy, being comfortable with learning how to use the audit software, and able to adapt workload to unplanned changes.

This important role, working closely with clinical, estates, and housekeeping colleagues to carry out cleanliness audits across sites used by UHD to deliver services. Audits will be undertaken by a multi-disciplinary team using theNational Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness.
Base location:Royal Bournemouth Hospital
You will be required to work across UHD sites.

• To operate a robust monitoring system based on the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025
• To promote safe standards of cleanliness across all healthcare environments within the Trust and encourage quality improvements where identified
• To assist with the annual co-ordination and delivery of the Patient-Led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE) inspection, providing individualised action plans as appropriate
