About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA at a pivotal moment for our Birmingham portfolio. The Business Development Director role has been created following two internal promotions, reflecting both the success of our commercial strategy and our genuine commitment to developing talent from within.

In this senior role, you will be responsible for driving total sales revenue across Aloft Birmingham Eastside and The Eastside Rooms Conference & Events Venue. Working at a strategic and operational level, you’ll play a key part in shaping long-term growth, strengthening market presence and ensuring both properties reach their full commercial potential.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Business Development Director, you will take ownership of driving sales performance across both the hotel and events venue, ensuring activity aligns with wider revenue management and commercial strategies. You’ll manage and grow a portfolio of corporate, MICE and agency accounts, focusing on increasing share, deepening relationships and delivering sustainable revenue growth.

Alongside this, you’ll proactively identify and secure new business across a range of sectors, building a strong pipeline that supports both short-term performance and long-term success. You’ll work closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing to deliver the Sales and Marketing Plan in line with Aimbridge and Marriott brand standards, while also raising awareness of these exciting properties at a local, national and international level.

This is a highly collaborative role, requiring close partnership with on-property leaders and teams. You’ll help embed a commercial mindset across the business, supporting and upskilling colleagues to ensure every opportunity is maximised.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring significant senior-level sales experience within a comparable hotel, conference or hospitality environment. You’ll have a strong understanding of corporate, MICE and agency segments and a proven ability to build and maintain meaningful, long-term relationships.

You’ll be commercially astute, confident operating on an international stage, and comfortable travelling regionally, nationally and internationally as required. Just as importantly, you’ll thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with leadership teams and supporting the development of others.

Above all, you’ll share our passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and for living and breathing our brand standards every day.

What We Can Offer You

We believe work-life balance matters and encourage open conversations about flexibility at interview stage, exploring what works best for you and the business.

In return, you’ll enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including generous hotel and food & beverage discounts across our portfolio, subsidised meals on duty, paid breaks and a financial contribution towards childcare from day one. You’ll benefit from a minimum of 33 days’ holiday, access to wellbeing support including an annual allowance of up to £500, and practical financial benefits such as Wagestream and salary sacrifice schemes.

We also offer strong security and recognition, with company sick pay, annual salary and benefits reviews, and multiple ways your contribution will be celebrated — from formal awards to everyday recognition. Through our Boomerang internal sales lead programme, you’ll also have the opportunity to earn uncapped commission on realised revenues.

Most importantly, you’ll have access to excellent learning and development opportunities, supporting both your personal growth and long-term career progression.
